FILLING IN

One of the biggest advances in the fight against premature aging involves the use of hyaluronic acid. This naturally occurring component of connective tissue is capable of binding  to water much more effectively than even glycerin. As such, it has the ability to plump up skin. While hyaluronic acid’s topical skin-plumping power is limited by the fact that it is too large a molecule to penetrate the skin, hyaluronic acid injections are another matter. When hyaluronic acid injectable filler was first introduced in the form of Restylane, dermatologists were struck by its long-lasting effectiveness. Today, there are five FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers on the market, which usually last four to nine months. Restylane may even reverse the signs of aging.

Aging, exposure to the natural elements, and stress contribute to wrinkles and other changes to the skin.  If you’re uncomfortable with the appearance of your skin, please call ELMHURST DERMATOLOGY at 630-832-2111 to schedule an evaluation.  We offer a wide range of specialized cosmetic services, including Botox, soft tissue fillers, laser resurfacing for wrinkles, and chemical peels.  Do you want to enjoy silky smooth skin without having to reach for a razor?  Our laser hair removal is the most permanent method of hair removal for legs, arms, and face. Our practice is located at 103 N. Haven, Suite 7, Elmhurst.

P.S. According to a University of Michigan study, Restylane causes the skin to create new collagen and might also inhibit the breakdown of existing collagen.
