RASH AROUND THE MOUTH
Perioral dermatitis is a common skin problem that
affects mostly women and only occasionally men and
children. “Perioral” refers to the area around the mouth
while “dermatitis” indicates skin redness. In addition,
small red bumps or even pus bumps and mild peeling appear. The areas most affected are within the borders
of the lines from the nose to the sides of the lips, and
the chin. Frequently, a small band of skin bordering
the lips is spared. Strong corticosteroid facial creams
can cause the condition, as can heavy use of face creams/moisturizers and toothpaste. Once the cause is
isolated and eliminated, treatment with an oral antibiotic
may relieve symptoms. However, even after effective
treatment, the condition may reappear.
If you experience red skin around the mouth or another
